Kennedy's Birthday

We had so much fun celebrating Kennedy's birthday on Saturday. Thanks to everyone who celebrated with us and for all of the fun gifts!

"Ooohh!--it's just what I always wanted!"

"But I want the camera more!"

Kennedy also decided to start walking at her birthday party! She took several steps, paused, and took several more steps to reach her mommy. We weren't able to catch it on video yet, but stay tuned! For now, here's a clip of Ken eating her birthday cake:

Happy 1st Birthday Kennedy!

Today's post is all about Kennedy! We can't believe our little Kenna is one year old! Here are some things you may not know about Kennedy:

Nicknames: Ken, Kenders, Kenna, babydoll

Favorite person: Mommy, then Maddie

Favorite color: pink (Maddie decided that since all of Ken's stuff is pink)

Favorite game: Peek-a-boo (if you haven't seen her video back in 2007, check it out!)

Favorite things to do: take baths, look out the window, dance (bob head & shoulders up & down as soon as she hears a beat!), climb up stairs, read books, snuggle with mommy, empty purses/bags & drawers/cupboards, unwrap the toilet paper

Least favorite things to do: lie still for a diaper change, drop Maddie off at preschool

Favorite mischievous act: try to sneak her hand in the toilet water when mom isn't looking and shake her head "no-no" when she is caught

Why do little babies have to grow up so fast?! The one-year mark is bittersweet for me because it means my baby isn't such a little baby anymore! It is the time to reminisce and look back on how she has grown this past year. Since we started the blog a while after she was born, I wanted to post some pictures from when she was a newborn.

The night before Kennedy was born.
(Wow, I was big!)

Doing Our Part

We at the Hansen household take our nation's economic struggles to heart. We aren't ones to sit idly by while watching the country sink further into a recession. After some thoughtful analysis, we decided on a course of spending that would help stimulate the nation's economy. Here's what we purchased:

Kennedy entranced by the new TV & entertainment center
Those of you who know us well know that we aren't usual spendthrifts. The truth of the matter is that after several months of slow decline, our furnace finally kicked the bucket. And what with the unusually cold spring we've been enduring (yes, there was snow on our lawn this morning!), we couldn't put off a replacement. Luckily my parents were kind enough to let us camp out at their place for the weekend while our furnace was out. The pictures below show how much fun Kennedy had at Grandma & Papa's house, and Maddie couldn't believe she was lucky enough to have a 3-night sleepover!

And Aaron somehow convinced me that we should replace our perfectly fine television and hand-me-down entertainment center with a flat-screen LCD TV and new entertainment center. And thanks to an awesome accountant we have(he he), our tax refund was able to cover all of the purchases.

So, how are you spending your tax refund or rebate this year?
